  LCUK Delegates Conference  
  The annual Delegates Conference will be held in Leicester on Sunday 30th July 2006. Elections will be held for the key LCUK Executive posts and nominations taken for the UK Central Council to be formed from members of all 20 Mahajans in the UK.   YLANL Launches New Website  
  Young Lohana Association North London have launched their new website - www.ylanl.co.uk - have a look. They also successfully hosted a Summer Solstice event and a Kids Klub programme earlier this month. Our heartiest congratulations to YLANL on the launch of their website  
     
  LCEL Gujarati Natak  
  Lohana Community East London are hosting a natak ("Jadalo Jitu") on Saturday 15th July at Vishwa Hindu Parishad Mandir, Albert Road, Ilford, Essex.   LCNL Events  
  Lohana Mahajan North London (LCNL) - are hosting an 18 Hole Golf competition on Sunday 16th July at Bushy Hall Golf Club. The day starts off at 11:00 with a BBQ, Tee-off is at 13:00 and is followed by a Dinner and Mehfil in the evening - click here for details. LCNL Mahila Mandal are hosting a Lagna Geet and Decoration Competition on Saturday 29th July at RCT Hall in Harrow. Tickets are just £6 including lunch - click here for more details.   LCSL Charity Walk  
  Lohana Community South London are holding a Charity Walk on Sunday 13th August in aid of Leukaemia Research Fund. The walk starts from Lan Franc School, Mitcham Road, Croydon. The walk will finish with a BBQ / picnic, weather permitting.  
     
  East African Lohana 31st Sports & Cultural Festival  
  This annual festival is to be hosted this year by Nairobi Lohana Youth League during Christmas 2006 in Nairobi. Participants from all over East Africa will be playing golf, cricket, darts, table tennis, badminton, etc. The evenings will be lined up with special social and cultural events. More news on this as we get it - book your airline tickets now as it is busy season in Kenya!

  Pujya Rambapa Visits Canada  
  On Thursday 15th June Lohana Cultural Association of Canada hosted a Hanuman Chalisa and Bhajan evening at the Hindu Mandir in Toronto in honour of Pujya Rambapa who visited Toronto.

  Shree Jalaram Mandir Leicester (website: www.jalarambapa.com) invites everyone to come and celebrate their 10th anniversary with Shree Ram Katha to be recited by Param Pujya Shree Morari Bapu. The katha is being hosted at Soar Valley Community College, Rushymead in Leicester from 15th July to 23rd July 2006. Click here for more details  
   
  The Los Angeles Ram Katha has been rescheduled to the holy month of "Shravan Mas" as of now. The organisers are extremely sorry and sincerely regret any inconvenience this may have caused devotees planning to attend the Katha from all over the World. They are very aware of the inconveniences involved and would sincerely appreciate your support when the event is rescheduled. New dates for the Katha will be announced shortly and will be posted on the website at www.iiramii.net.

  Nairobi Lohanas Big On The International Sports Scene  
  The International Cricket Council (ICC) recently selected Subhashbhai Modi of Nairobi to their panel of Associate/Affiliate International Umpires. Mr Modi was in Scotland earlier this month to officiate a One Day International Match - Pakistan vs. Scotland - umpiring with Darrell Hair. The match referee was Clive Lloyd. Mr Modi has been umpiring for the past 25 years. He is also one of the founders of the Lohana Sports and Cultural Festival.

Our congratulations to Mr Modi on his appointment. Subhashbhai's son Hitesh Modi also plays for the Kenyan Cricket Team and has represented Kenya in the last three Cricket World Cups. Amar Hindocha of Nairobi represented Kenya (Seed 1) at the World Pool Championships which are held every year in Blackpool. This year the tournament, played in mid June for 2 weeks, attracted 14 countries (England, Wales, Scotland, India, West Indies, Spain, France, Australia, South Africa, Channel Isles, Ireland, Northern Ireland, Malta and Kenya. Our congratulations to Amar on his seeding and achievement in representing Kenya in the pool championships.
 
     
  Shivkinner Bhajan Group Collects £5K For Charity  
  Saileshbhai Raja, group leader for Shivkinner, presented a cheque for £5000 on Sunday 2nd July at Tilda Hall in Leicester to the Heartsearch charity. He is launching the groups 3rd CD on Sunday 30th July at the same venue with funds being collected for MND. Everyone is welcome at attend the launch event - entrance is free - please email Saileshbhai on saileshraja@hotmail.com so appropriate arrangements can be made.  
     
  Urmilaben Thakkar Awarded With Sanskar Garima  
  Our LCUK Trustee Smt. Urmilaben Thakkar was awarded a "Sanskar Garima" award earlier this year by Gujarat Samachar newspaper for her services in the community in promoting arts and culture and as a Gujarati presenter on Sunrise Radio. Our congratulations to Urmilaben on the award.  
     
  Lohana Launches His First Novel  
  A Lohana of South London, Rameshbhai Thakkar launched his first novel, a thriller called The Kenya Project in May 2006. The Kenya project is an international intrigue - a fascinating new thriller set in the worlds of industry in Kenya and the centre characters are Richard, Lucy, Samantha and David. Rameshbhai is writing under the name Ramesh Chandra. We wish Rameshbhai every success with his book and with his future projects in this venture.   Lohana Youth Receives Royal Award  
  Amit Ganatra 24 years of West London who is studying Computer Engineering at Brunel University has won a special award from the Queen for completing 200 hours of service at the Lady's Creative Centre in Ealing which fosters the creative talents of women in the community. Congratulations Amit on the award and for the excellent voluntary work you have done so well.

  The Pattani family of South London have had a triple exams success. Doctor Poonam has qualified as a Dentist (BDS) and Priya and Binti have both obtained their degrees in Optometry. Our congratulations to the girls and to the Pattani family.  
   
  Ravi Madlani has obtained a 1st in BEng Computing from Imperial College London - congratulations to Ravi and the Madlani family who are also from South London.
